Again a form validation project, but also lots of fun with jQuery & AJAX. StarDsign.de needed form fields to auto-fill state and district (Stadt & Bezirk) fields based on the entered ZIP. Later, I found out that the form is to only be used for a few dozen ZIPs, or I would have chosen a much more seamless approach by embedding the ZIPs in a JSON object in the page. Less bandwidth & more fun to figure out. However, the option provided allows the customer to grow the number of ZIPs by updating a CSV file, rather than having to wade through a JSON object.
Note: This project was completed for stardsign.de as a sub-contract for one of their customers. The image to the left is a mock-up of a form used in that customer’s internal Customer Management System.
